Who We Are 

​

The Sales Association of the Chemical Industry was organized in New York City in 1921.  Our membership is primarily representative of the sales and marketing departments of companies engaged in the manufacture and distribution of chemicals and raw ingredients as well as sales and marketing departments in the allied trades that support this organization’s purpose.  The Association’s primary goal is to encourage networking among professionals with the intention of finding ways to increase the efficiency of the sales process, foster and encourage the highest standards of sales ethics and gain recognition for chemical marketing as a noble profession of individuals who are vitally interested in the growth and wellbeing of their industry.  The association brings together individuals who enhance industry continuity, growth, and welfare.

How We Select New Members 

​

Candidates for Membership are proposed and seconded by active members.  The Board of Directors then considers the submission and gives final approval for Regular, Associate or Student Membership.  New members are then notified by letter of their acceptance by the SACI Chairman.

Membership Classifications

Regular Member:  $130/year

Definition - A salesperson, purchasing agent, manager or executive officer directly employed in sales or marketing by a chemical manufacturer or an authorized sales agent, broker or the distributor of a chemical manufacturer. An owner or a representative of a business publication, an advertising agency or an allied supplier devoted to the interests of the chemical industry or its affiliates. An owner or agent representing a recruiting firm specifically focused on executive recruitment for the chemical industry or its allied trades.

Student Membership: $30/year

Definition – Any full time or part time student actively pursuing a college or university degree intentioned toward the procurement of employment with any company that fits the above definitions for a Regular or an Associate member for whom SACI members may serve as mentor.

Associate Membership:  $65/year

Definition – A purchasing professional, product development director, manager, or technician, or a business development professional directly employed by clients and or customers of the chemical industry and its allied trades. Associate membership may also be granted to anyone meeting the qualifications of regular membership, but whose place of business is outside of the geographic area covered by SACI, (the NY, NJ, CT, PA, DE area). Associate members shall enjoy all the privileges of regular members except voting or serving on the board of directors.

Emeritus Membership: $0/year

Definition – Emeritus membership may be granted to any retired member who directly petitions the board after serving faithfully in the chemical or allied trades during the course of their career and has been a SACI member in good standing for at least the last 5 years.
